Following President-elect Donald Trump’s choice of Lieutenant General Michael Flynn as National Security Advisor, multiple mainstream publications have trained a negative eye on Flynn’s support of Breitbart Senior Editor MILO.
Lieutenant General Michael Flynn spoke highly of MILO at a gathering of young conservatives at Trump’s Washington Hotel.
“He’s definitely … one of the most different, one of the most brave people that I’ve ever met. We have different views on different things, but he is deeply, deeply conservative in his views about this country,”
Upon hearing of Lt. Gen. Flynn’s comments about him MILO said:
“It’s absurd, of course, to be called brave by someone of Michael’s caliber. But I’m grateful for the compliment and he knows that the admiration is very much mutual. He will be a formidable addition to the Trump White House.”
However, many in the leftist and mainstream media were unhappy with the Lt. General’s praise. Jesse Singal from New York Magazine, who previously attacked everyone that reads Breitbart as “hateful idiots” and derided MILO for the success of his university speeches, writes in his article,
“Yiannopoulos, a failed London tech entrepreneur who once attempted to extort a former employee who asked for wages Yiannopoulos refused to pay until he was sued, has built a successful career out of getting progressives to react angrily to his outrageous statements, and by getting what appears to be a largely young and male audience of fans to cheer him on for fighting ‘political correctness.’”
Andrew Kaczynski from CNN also covered Lt. Gen. Flynn’s remarks, linking MILO to the alt-right. Despite MILO stating multiple times that he does not identify with the alt-right, the fake news media continues to link him to the controversial group.
“Yiannopoulos, Breitbart’s tech editor, has developed a following from the so-called alt-right, a movement associated with anti-Semitism and racism, by antagonizing progressives through his controversial statements and stunts. He set up a scholarship fund solely for white men, compared the Black Lives Matter movement to the Ku Klux Klan, and said that the United States has “a Muslim problem.” He was permanently banned from Twitter earlier this year for inciting racist and sexist attacks on “Ghostbusters” actor Leslie Jones.”
Amrita Khalid of The Daily Dot, which describes MILO as a “right wing agitator,” acknowledges that MILO has “stated again and again” that he is not a member of the alt-right, nonetheless smears him as the “movement’s most prominent defender” despite the fact that the Breitbart senior editor has actually explained how to destroy the movement.
“A man who lead the charge in online trolling against women and people of color was praised on Tuesday by Retired Lieutenant General Michael Flynn, President-Elect Donald Trump‘s pick for national security advisor. Nathan Grayson, the Kotaku journalist best known for catalysing GamerGate with his undisclosed relationships, was particularly outraged in his commentary on Flynn.
“Deepening those Breitbart ties, Trump’s pick for national security adviser, Michael Flynn, this month praised Breitbart’s best-known noxious diarrhea cannon, Milo Yiannopoulos, as “phenomenal” and “one of the most different, one of the most brave people that I’ve ever met.” Flynn’s dear brave boy Milo used Gamergate as a stepping stone toward infamy and fortune, blithely lying and harassing his way through games, tech, and ultimately Hollywood until he was (finally) banned from Twitter after encouraging abuse of Ghostbusters star Leslie Jones. These days, even some Gamergaters don’t love him.”
