A highly decorated Navy Admiral delivered a slap to anti-American protester and San Francisco 49ers Quarterback Colin Kaepernick during his Pearl Harbor anniversary speech at Kilo Pier in Honolulu, Hawaii.

U.S. Pacific Command Commander Admiral Harry Harris spoke during the 75th Anniversary Pearl Harbor Day Commemoration ceremony on Wednesday delivering a backhanded slap to the antics of the NFL player saying that those who fell and those many others who served in WWII “never took a knee and never failed to stand” during the national anthem.

“You can bet that the men and women we honor today, and those who died that fateful morning 75 years ago, never took a knee and never failed to stand whenever they heard our national anthem being played,” the admiral said.

As soon as he uttered his line alluding to Kaepernick’s protests, the crowd erupted in an extended round of applause, whistles and yells of delight.

Though he didn’t specifically mention Kaepernick’s name, Harris was obviously addressing the controversial anti-American protests repeatedly indulged by the NFL player who first started his statement in week one of the NFL’s 2016/17 season.

“Hearing the words, ‘The land of the free and home of the brave’ means something special for every American, every day,” Harris added later in his speech. “But today, on Dec. 7, it takes on extraordinary significance.”
