On a cold, foggy morning, 66 years ago, there were panzers in the mist…

All pictures courtesy the US National Archives. The first two come from captured german film of the opening phases of the Battle of the Bulge, and show a King Tiger of Kampgruppe Peiper moving through the Belgian forest, and a german Landser examining an abandoned US scout car – which is where he probably got that cigarette. The last two are US Signal Corps photos of US soldiers on patrol and a destroyed Sherman tank.
