It probably has something to do with the fact that the Iranian mullahs are willing to be as brutal as necessary to stay in power. Reuters is reporting that a Dutch citizen arrested after the Iranian protests of 2009 has been executed on fabricated drug charges. Five others have been sentenced to death. As Machiavelli said about staying in power, it is better to be feared than loved.
