Gaddafi's Enemy – Our Libyan 'Ally?' Al Qaeda – From Iraq

One of the myriad problems the vast majority of Americans have with President Barack Obama’s ridiculous foray into Libyan civil war side-choosing is – we don’t know who it is we’re helping to oust Muammar Gaddafi.

With whom are we locking and launching arms?

Some of us had an idea. That these aren’t Islamic George Washingtons, Alexander Hamiltons and Thomas Jeffersons – they are radical Islamists seeking to overthrow their secular government and establish something just a tad more religious.

Which is very similar to the idea we had in Egypt (and have in Bahrain, and Yemen, and …).

The tepid posits that these are Libyan democracy seekers come from some of the same people who ludicrously said the same thing about the Egyptian rebels. Who then in shocked naiveté watched their new Islamic democrats shoved aside by the Muslim Brotherhood the moment Hosni Mubarak was out the door.

President Obama didn’t wait long enough for the Libyan revolutionaries to sell him and the usefully idiotic “world community” the same tall tale – he just commenced with the Tomahawk chop.

Well, look who it turns out we’re helping: Al Qaeda.

Abdel-Hakim al-Hasidi, the Libyan rebel leader, has said jihadists who fought against allied troops in Iraq are on the front lines of the battle against Muammar Gaddafi’s regime.

And not just Al Qaeda (never thought I’d write that phrase) – Al Qaeda from Iraq, who have shot at and killed our troops there.

And President Obama’s got their back.

This is why the President should not rush headlong into a combat zone obliviously devoid of the facts on the ground.

This is why the President should seek Congressional input before so doing.

This is why you do not elect a neophyte radical as Commander in Chief.
