Must Read: Rita Cosby's Quiet Hero Poignant Story of One Family's Battle with PTSD

In her new book, Quiet Hero: Secrets from My Father’s Past, Rita Cosby tells an incredibly moving story of patriotism and pain. A chance discovery reveals that her estranged father was a prisoner-of-war in WWII, and inspires her to reach out to him to renew their relationship. In the process, she discovers that he, like so many veterans, struggles with post-traumatic stress disorder. Rita’s personal story is a window onto the incredible sacrifices made by our soldiers, and their families–not just in wartime, but for years afterwards. I am in awe of Rita–and her father–and believe that every American, liberal or conservative, will find a message to cherish in her book.
