Reset: Russians Hack US Ambassador to Moscow

The US Ambassador to Moscow, Michael McFaul, accused Russian state television reporters of hacking his phone and email today. McFaul is the ideological father of the Obama administration’s famed “Reset” with the Kremlin.

The accusation followed a media ambush of McFaul by Russian journalists at a private meeting with a Russian human rights activist. Human rights activists are under constant threat in Russia. “I respect press rights to go anywhere and ask any question,” he tweeted. “But do they have to read my email and listen to my phone?” The Russian channel said it didn’t hack McFaul, and instead suggested that it had gotten the meeting information from “open sources” and “informants.”
