CBS Calls Truce with Christians to Trash Israel

Two groups on the left’s most hated list are Israelis and Christians. Yet when sympathy for one of these groups can paint an even worse picture of the other, members of the left, like Bob Simon of “60 Minutes,” will not hesitate to do so.

Such was the case over the weekend, when Simon criticized Israelis for their treatment of “Arab Christians.” For those of you “in the know,” the phrase “Arab Christians” was one Simon seized on because the word “Palestinians” has so many negative connotations attached to it. Anyway, the ultimate criticism against Israel was the wall they use for self defense–the wall that “Israel was forced to erect to stop wave after wave of terrorist bombings” from Palestinians.

Said Simon:

For all Palestinians, just leaving Bethlehem is a struggle. Getting to Jerusalem, only seven miles away, whether it’s to pray, go to a doctor, visit family members or work, means going through this Israeli checkpoint. That can take hours, but before Palestinians can get even this far, they need a permit from the Israelis, which can take weeks or months to obtain and is frequently denied.

When will members of the left realize that Israelis are literally fighting for their very survival? More importantly, when will Jewish voters realize the Democrats could care less about the plight of Israel? It was, after all, just a few days ago that Obama’s State Department refused to stand up for Israel when the Islamists in Turkey protested Israeli participation in a NATO summit.

The bottom line: whether it’s a wall for self-defense or a summit for self-determination, the left sees Israel as a culprit.
