European Commission to Israel and Islamists: Can't We All Just Get Along?

The Muslim Brotherhood is now in power in Egypt via President Mohamed Morsi, it appears set to dominante in Libya, and brotherhood loyalists in Hamas just finished firing rockets in Israel. The European Commission is calling for renewed peace talks between Israel and Palestine.

Last Sunday European Commission chief Jose Manuel Barroso said: “The Middle East peace process cannot become an orphan of the Arab Spring.” He did not, however, explain how Israel is to seek peace with those who are vocal about their determination to destroy the Jewish state, nor did he address the fact that the Arab Spring has only increased the outward show of hostility toward Israel.

Clearly, Barroso’s pronouncement is music to Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas’ ears, for it proves that amid the Muslim Brotherhood’s open push to wipe Israel off the map, the European Commission sits comfortably numb, with their blinders on, and their politically correct approach to appeasement in tact.

Israel’s enemies now enjoy access to new weapons and funding via the Muslim Brotherhood’s political success, but that’s obviously lost on the European Commission.
