Egypt's Morsi Picks A Premier Who May Be an Islamist

Egyptian President Mohamed Morsi, a member of the Muslim Brotherhood who promised to represent the people above all else, has picked a premier for Egypt that represents only one segment of the population. His name is Hisham Qandil, and it is feared he might be an Islamist like Morsi.

Qandil has denied ties to the Muslim Brotherhood and Islamism, but these denials have not changed the opinions of Egyptians who believe he has ties to both.  They see in Qandil a man who dresses like the Islamists, who wears his beard like the Islamists, and who is in the company of Islamists.

Like Morsi, Qandil is promising a moderate posture, and trying to appeal to the people.  We can only hope that he means it.
