Netanyahu: US Has No Moral Right to Keep Israel from Attacking Iran

After the Obama administration rejected red lines for Iran, Israeli PM Netanyahu said those “who refuse to put red lines before Iran don’t have a moral right to place a red light before Israel.”

In other words, if the US won’t hold Iran back they have no business trying to stifle Israel from defending itself.

Netanyahu’s words came on the heels of Sec. of Clinton’s announcement that the US wants to wait on establishing red lines in order to give sanctions more time to work against Iran. The Israeli PM responded to the calls for more time by saying: “The world tells Israel, ‘Wait, there’s time.’ [But] wait for what? What until when?”

He added: “So far we can say with certainty that diplomacy and sanctions haven’t worked. The sanctions have hurt the Iranian economy but they haven’t stopped the Iranian nuclear program. That’s a fact.” Moreover, the Obama administration’s continued refusal to go beyond sanctions sends a clear signal to Iran that they can continue doing exactly what they’re doing, “without any interference.”

While Israelis appear divided on whether they should attack Iran without US support, at least one Israeli cabinet member believes “Israel could successfully strike Iran without US support.”
