Renowned American School in Tunis Up in Flames

Islamist rioters have attacked, looted, and torched the American Cooperate School in Tunis as part of widespread violent anti-U.S. protests.

The school, offering PK-12 grade classes for mostly non-American expatriates, sent students home early under the threat of the growing protests. Shortly thereafter, a few protesters climbed the fences around the school and dismantled security cameras, allowing 300 to 400 other protesters to climb the fence without being identified.

The protesters took musical instruments and 700 laptop computers from the premises, then set the school on fire.

The attacks ended hours later, once school staff members armed with baseball bats began confronting protesters who still lingered on the campus.
