U.N. Criticizes U.S. Border Patrol for 'Excessive Force'

The U.N. claims the U.S. Border Patrol has gotten somewhat trigger happy on the U.S./Mexico border.

They base this claim on a recent shooting in which a Mexican teenager was killed while part of a group of teens that was throwing rocks at U.S. Border Patrol agents in the dark of night. The shooting involved two Border Patrol agents who were responding to reports of smugglers. As of right now, details are sketchy, but it appears that the teen who was shot and killed was running away from the Border Patrol agents while others in his group were still throwing rocks at them.

The Department of Homeland Security has opened an investigation into Border Patrol brutality, citing 18 people who have been killed by the Border Patrol since 2010. They are doing this even though the Border Patrol “considers the use of lethal force against rock-throwers generally acceptable, [because] the projectiles can be deadly.”

This is the same DHS which has yet to open an honest investigation into the shooting death of Border Patrol Agent Brian Terry (Dec. 2010), and which has voiced little concern over the hundreds of Mexican citizens killed with Fast and Furious weapons.
