A poll conducted by the Friedrich Ebert Foundation shows that Fascism and anti-Semitism are rapidly rising in Germany.
In fact, the poll shows that 15.8% of residents living in former East Germany admit affiliation with fascistic politics and “subscribe to beliefs” like hatred of Jews. Approximately 7.6% of the residents in the western part of the country share this affiliation with fascism and anti-Semitism as well.
Applied to the whole of Germany, this means one out of every eleven Germans will admit to a pollster that they hate Jews.
Along with these beliefs comes a strong wave of anti-immigrant sentiment. Twenty percent of those in the western part of the country claim a hatred of immigrants, and nearly 40% of those in former East Germany do the same.
The poll also showed that young Germans (under 30) who hold these views, prefer a dictatorship to the democracy Germany currently enjoys.
