The war between Israel and Hamas in Gaza is not only taking place on the ground and in the air, but also on Twitter. In a novel way of chronicling what is happening, Israel warned on Twitter that Hamas operatives would be targeted:
@IDFSpokesperson We recommend that no Hamas operatives, whether low level or senior leaders, show their faces above ground in the days ahead.
This prompted an entire series of responses from Hamas:
@AlqassamBrigade @IDFSpokesperson Our blessed hands will reach your leaders and soldiers wherever they are (You Opened Hell Gates on Yourselves)
@AlqassamBrigade #PillarOfDefence would be beginning of liberation of the occupied Palestine, homeland of Palestinians, so we proudly paying our lives for
Israel tweets once in a general warning; Hamas tweets every single thing it’s doing in 16 responses. The Israelis are usually one step ahead in cyber-warfare; would anyone be surprised if they designed the Tweet specifically to engender a response?
