Ceasefire: Palestinians Try To Storm Gaza Fence, One Killed

With Israel bound by an Obama-forced and Egypt-negotiated ceasefire, Hamas has come up with new strategies for targeting Israel. Instead of firing rockets, they’ve turned to surges on the border fence separating Gaza from Israel. Hundreds of Palestinians tried to storm the border fence today in locations across the Gaza Strip, trying to see if Israel would enforce a buffer zone designed to stop terrorists from crossing into Israel. The protesters were shouting “Allahu Akhbar” – translated by the Associated Press as “God is Great” – and praising Egyptian Muslim Brotherhood president Mohammed Morsi.

The surge got violent, and Israeli troops were forced to fire at the legs of those trying to scale the fence. One 20-year-old Arab was killed, and 19 Arabs were wounded. Hamas supposedly tried to keep crowds away from the fence, although that seems unlikely. Hamas did say that the violence would not stop the ceasefire.
