CAIR Member Seeks Seat on NYC City Council

Zead Ramadan is seeking the seat being vacated by Councilman Robert Jackson on New York City’s city council.

Ramadan is “a Palestinian Arab who was born in Kuwait and immigrated to Washington Heights with his family… as a kid.” Because of this extended time in NYC, Ramadan says, “I grew up in this community, and I know northern Manhattan as good as almost anyone.”

Ramadan is the president of the board of directors of the New York Chapter of the Council on American Islamic Relations (CAIR)–a group accused of having ties to Hamas and one which describes Israel as “a terrorist state.”

CAIR was named as an unindicted co-conspirator in the Holy Land Foundation trial over laundering money for Hamas. The FBI severed all ties with CAIR in 2008 over concerns raised in that trial.
