Turkey FM Asks if Israel, Syria Share 'Collaborative Conspiracy'

Turkish Foreign Minister Ahmet Davutoglu is questioning Syrian President Bashar al-Assad over the lack of response to Israel’s Tuesday attacks on that country.

Asked Davutoglu: “Why didn’t Assad even through a pebble when Israeli jets were flying over his palace and playing with the dignity of his country?”

And in another line of questions that seem to betray a significant divide between Turkey and Syria, Davutoglu asked:

Why didn’t the Syrian army, which has been attacking its own innocent people for 22 months now from the air with jets and by land with tanks and artillery fire, respond to Israel’s operation? Why can’t Assad, who gave [the] order to fire SCUD missiles at Aleppo, do anything against Israel?

Davutoglu went so far as to wonder if there might be a “collaborative conspiracy between Israel and Assad’s regime.”

It’s interesting to note that when Israel attacked a Syrian bomb factory in 2007, Assad did not respond then either.
