Pentagon Official: US 'Rhetoric' May Be Driving North Korea Toward War

The Pentagon is concerned that recent announcements of U.S. military deployments may be driving North Korea to up the war rhetoric on their end.

After a North Korean army official warned that “the moment of explosion is approaching fast” on April 4, a Pentagon official said, “We accused the North Koreans of amping things up, now we are worried we did the same thing.”

The official’s comments came as satellite images showed “North Korea has moved up two mobile missile bases, launchers and fuel tanks to its East coast.”

The mobile sites, believed to be bases for Musudan missiles, pose no direct threat to the U.S., but could reach South Korea, Japan, and Southeast Asia.
