Islamist Woolwich Murder Suspect Defiant in First Court Appearance

The Telegraph is reporting that Woolrich murder suspect Michael Abedolajo walked into court on June 3 with a smile, kissed the Koran at one point, and “appeared to blow a kiss to a relative in the public gallery.”

They also report that he asked to be called Mujaahid Abu Hamza–the name he took upon converting to Islam in 2003/2004.

When he kissed the Koran, he allegedly raised his arm and someone in the gallery kissed a Koran as well.

When asked to rise he remained seated, allegedly stating that if he was supposed to stand he would sit.

Adebolajo and Michael Adebowale are both charged with the murder of British soldier Lee Rigby on May 22. While Adebolajo appeared before the magistrate in person, Adebowale appeared via video link. Both men will appear in person for a hearing on June 28.

There is no bail and therefore no chance for release between now and then.
