Sharia Left in Egypt's New Constitution?

Egypt’s new constitutional declaration has something in common with it’s previous consitution–Sharia law. The American Thinker juxtaposed the language of the old with the language of the new to show that little has changed.

For example, Article 2 of the Muslim Brotherhood-backed constitution under Morsi read thus: “Islam is the religion of the state and Arabic its official language. Principles of Islamic Sharia are the principal source of legislation.”

Now, here’s the language of the new constitutional declaration: “Islam is the religion of the state, Arabic is its official language and the principles of sharia law derived from established Sunni cannons are its main source of legislation.”

This new constitutional language was introduced by interim president Adly Mansour on July 8. It indicates “the Sharia closed circle” continues.
