North Korean leader Kim Jong-un is having trouble finding enough virgins to fill the dancing troupes he is long accustomed to using for entertainment.
According to the The Telegraph, “Kim’s taste for Stalinist economics is reducing the number of virgins available for recruitment” by stifling economic growth and contributing to “an increase in prostitution, drug abuse, and human trafficking.”
Kim refuses to agree that his economic policies have led to this. Rather, his regime blames the shortage of virgins “on the decadent influence of capitalism.” Yet the situation in North Korea seems to indicate that even young girls are reverting to prostitution or doing favors for men in order to get enough money to help put food on their family’s tables.
As The Telegraph puts it: “Under the Kims, North Korea is part barracks and part brothel–an odd outcome for a society supposedly dedicated to peace and ending exploitation.”
