Former International Monetary Fund chief Dominique Strauss-Kahn will be named an economic advisor to the Serbian government. He is still facing pimping charges in France and possibly 10 years in prison.
In 2011, Strauss-Kahn resigned after a New York City maid accused him of sexual assault. He was charged for the assault, but a year later reached a settlement with the maid. A judge insisted Strauss-Kahn was a central figure in orgies at high scale hotels. He admitted that he attended the swingers parties, but denied any knowledge the women were prostitutes. Investigators also believed he took part in a gang rape in Washington D.C. between December 15 and 18, 2010.
The Serbian Prime Minister will announce more details this upcoming week. CNN spoke to an official in the department:
“The exact details still have to be worked out, but we will have more information on Tuesday,” the official said. “Mr. Strauss-Kahn will come to Serbia from time to time, but I don’t think he will live here.”
Asked why the government had chosen Strauss-Kahn, she said, “Because he is an expert in the field of economics.”
The official also noted it is more than likely he will not move to Serbia despite the role.
