Hillary Rodham Clinton says she plans to lead an effort to evaluate the progress women have made around the globe in becoming full and equal participants in society.

The former secretary of state says the work will be done by 2015, which is the 20th anniversary of her famous remarks at a United Nations women’s conference in Beijing.

As first lady, Clinton declared in the 1995 speech that “women’s rights are human rights.”

She said Wednesday during the Clinton Global Initiative meetings that despite progress, women are a “long way from the goal of full and equal participation.”

Clinton is a potential Democratic presidential candidate in 2016. She says the evaluation through the Clinton Foundation will assess progress by women and chart a path forward for full participation in society.
