Game Pits Russian President Vladimir Putin Against Zombies

BRUSSELS, Sept. 30 (UPI) — A Belgian programmer said a game scheduled for release this year pits Russian President Vladimir Putin against a horde of undead zombies.

Michele Rocco Smeets, a Belgian game developer, said his latest project, titled “You Don’t Mess With Putin,” pits Putin and a fictional sidekick, an alcoholic man named Mike from the United States, against zombies that attack a news conference, RIA Novosti reported Monday.

Smeets said Putin’s one-liners in the game are based on actual statements from the official.

“Putin has this tough guy image and he’s not afraid to get his hands dirty,” Smeets said. “He hunts, he rides, he shoots. A leader should be strong, and in my opinion Putin is the only world leader that really fulfills this image.”

He said the game is not meant to be an endorsement of Putin’s politics.

“I’m not supporting socialism — I just like the guy [Putin], as a person and as a leader,” Smeets said.

The programmer said the game will be available Oct. 31 for iOS and Android.
