Report: Obama Scheduling Tehran Trip Next Year

A report indicates President Obama is seeking to arrange a trip that will allow him to visit Tehran, Iran next year.

According to Aljarida.com, Obama wants to visit in “the middle of the year.” Ajjarida claims to have learned this from “a U.S. diplomat.”

Working with a Google translation of the report, The Weekly Standard says the desire for the trip is mutual between the U.S. and Iranian governments, and the only delay in planning is in seeing if Iran’s Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei is willing to meet as well.

The diplomat reportedly told Aljarida that Obama is waiting for the details with Khamenei to be worked out so that Iran can send the U.S. President “an invitation.”

It should be noted that at least one “former high ranking U.S. diplomatic official” says he does not believe these reports.
