On November 27, PA TV reported that Palestinian Authority Chairman Mahmoud Abbas awarded Abu Jihad with the Star of Honor for being “the model of a true fighter and devoted leader.”
Jihad is “responsible for the murder of at least 125 Israelis in numerous terror attacks that he planned.”
According to Palestinian Media Watch (PMW), the “post-mortem honor” was given to Jihad’s wife in a ceremony designed “to honor the founding leaders and the first generation of the Palestinian revolution and the PLO, out of loyalty to their history of struggle.”
This is the second terror leader awarded the Star of Honor by Abbas this year. In July 2013 “the recipient …was Nayef Hawatmeh.”
Hawatmeh is the leader of the Democratic Front for the Liberation of Palestine (DFLP), a “group which carried out many deadly terror attacks in the 1970s and …also participated in and claimed responsibility for dozens of other terror attacks.” These included a suicide bombing as recently as 2003 that killed four in Tel Aviv.
