Marine Killed in Afghanistan After Celebrating Fourth Wedding Anniversary

U.S. Marine Sergeant Daniel Vasselian was shot and killed outside his Humvee in Afghanistan on December 23rd. He had just celebrated his fourth wedding anniversary with his wife via Skype on December 17th.

Vasselian, 27 years old, was from Abington, Massachusetts. He and his wife were high school sweethearts who wed in 2009.

According to Mail Online, no official details of Vasselian’s death have been released, “but his family said he was killed in an ambush.”

This was his third tour of duty, and he had volunteered to take part in the specific mission in which he was killed. His father, Mark Vasselian, explained: “I do know he volunteered for this mission after just coming back from a three day mission because he didn’t want to see anybody in his platoon get hurt and this is where it ended up.”

Breitbart News is humbled by Sgt. Vasselian’s sacrifice. We count him a hero.
