At Least 2 Dead in Confrontations Between Muslim Bros and Egyptian Authorities Ahead of New Referendum Result

There were at least two people killed in confrontations between Muslim Brotherhood supporters and police across Egypt the day before the official results of the referendum on the new constitution were announced.

Reuters reported that violence broke out on Friday in anticipation of Egyptian authorities announcing the official results of the referendum on a new military-backed constitution.

“One man was killed by a gunshot to the neck in the city of Fayoum, south of Cairo, a local health ministry official told Reuters. Another man was shot dead in a district on the outskirts of Cairo, a judicial source said,” Reuters reported.

On Saturday, the Egyptian election commission confirmed that voters overwhelmingly approved Egypt’s military backed-constitution by a 98.1 percent margin.
