Three Arrested for Gang Rape of Danish Tourist in India

Three young unemployed men were arrested in connection to the rape of a 51-year old Danish female tourist in India on January 14. They allegedly raped her for three hours.

Police say the tourist was raped at knifepoint Tuesday near Connaught Place, a popular shopping area in the heart of New Delhi. The woman got lost and approached a group of men for directions back to her hotel. But instead of helping her, police say, the men lured her to a secluded spot and raped her repeatedly.

She alleges six men were involved and sedated her with a handkerchief soaked in rubber solution. They threatened to stab her if she removed their hands from her mouth.

The woman refused a medical examination, and during her interview she told police she just wanted to go home. She collapsed at the security checkpoint at the airport and an assistant was allowed to accompany her to her seat.

Two men were arrested on Wednesday and the third arrested on Thursday. The police were able to recover a few of the woman’s belongings.
