IDF Discovers Firearm, Ammunition Hidden in Child's Bookbag

Israeli Defense Forces (IDF) carrying out routine vehicle inspections in the Jordan Valley discovered “an improvised firearm and ammunition” hidden in a child’s bookbag in a car driven by a Palestinian.

According to the IDFblog, the driver of the vehicle “aroused suspicion after a preliminary search” at a check point near the driver’s home.

IDF company commander Captain Sefi Mor said, “[The driver] seemed anxious, so we decided to perform a comprehensive search of the vehicle.” A firearm and ammunition were then discovered in a child’s bookbag.

“Thousands of people” pass through the checkpoint each day, and IDF forces “are constantly on alert for threats.”

Pinpointing and stopping these threats before they turn into terror attacks is part of why IDF forces search ambulances and related vehicles when they move through the checkpoint as well.
