Recording Surfaces of State Dept's Victoria Nuland Saying 'F**k the E.U.'

A recording leaked online and posted to YouTube allegedly contains the voice of U.S. Assistant Secretary of State Victoria Nuland saying, “Fuck the EU.”

In the recording, Nuland is discussing the “roles of Ukrainian opposition leaders and the United Nations” with U.S. Ambassador to Ukraine Geoffrey Pyatt.

According to KyivPost.com, a U.S. State Department official speaking on condition of anonymity said the “audio sounds like an authentic recording of a call that happened last week.” It was tweeted out by Russian Deputy Prime Minister Dmitry Rogozin.

The leaked recording “appears to be a smear campaign aimed to split the EU and U.S.,” both of which have been critical of Ukraine’s handling of “anti-government protests.”

White House spokesman Jay Carney did not dispute the authenticity of the recording but said Rogozin’s tweet demonstrates the struggle between “pro-Moscow and pro-Western camps in the Ukraine.”
