Nominee for Ambassador to Argentina Has Never Been to Argentina

Obama’s nominee for Ambassador to Argentina has never been to Argentina, but he did “[raise] half a million dollars for President Barack Obama and Democrats.”

When Noah Bryson Mamet testified before Congress following his nomination, he responded to questions about Argentina by saying, “I haven’t had the opportunity yet to be there. I’ve traveled pretty extensively around the world, but I haven’t yet had the a chance.”

CNN reports that Mamet’s nomination comes on the heels of George Tsunis’ nomination to be Ambassador to Norway.

Following his nomination, Tsunis gave a speech in which he referenced Norway’s president, although Norway has a prime minister. Tsunis also spoke of a “fringe party” Norway’s government had allegedly “denounced,” but it turns out the “fringe party is actually part of the government coalition.”

Tsunis and his wife raised over half a million dollars for Obama’s 2012 reelection.
