As Tensions Flare Between North and South Korea, Russia Blames U.S.

As tensions between North and South Korea continue to flare, Russia is pointing the finger at the U.S.

On March 30 North Korea “warned it was preparing to test another nuclear device.”

And according to CNN, on March 31, North and South Korea “exchanged hundreds of [artillery] shells across their western sea border.” North Korea alone fired “500 shells.

On the same day that the artillery shells were exchanged, Russia expressed concern that the U.S. was contributing to the tension via its military relationship with South Korea.

According to dnaindia.com, Russia’s Foreign Ministry released a statement expressing “[worry] about the mutual toughening of rhetoric, including the declaration by North Korea that it could conduct a new nuclear test.” The Foreign Ministry said the joint military exercises between the U.S. and South Korea “were aggravating the situation.”
