The granddaughter of World War II fascist Benito Mussolini will be on the ballot in Italy’s May elections.
Alessandra Mussolini says she is “surprised” to hear she is a candidate but will “accept the challenge.”
According to thelocal.it, “the former actress turned politician” is “[competing]…on behalf of Silvio Berlusconi’s Forza Italian Party.”
Berlusconi describes Mussolini as “a strong woman,” describing her as a “female role model who could be a great help.”
Mussolini is 52 years old. She was “a member of the…right-wing Social Alternative party…[in] the European Parliament…between 2004 and 2008.”
