China Considers Building High Speed Train to U.S.

On May 13th, CNN quoted the Beijing Times as saying China is considering the construction of “a high speed rail line that would start in northern China, go up through Russia and connect through Canada to America.”

According to CNN, “the proposed line would be more than 8,000 miles long,” which would be equivalent to traveling from the east coast of the United States to the west coast three times.

The high speed rail “would have an underwater tunnel that stretches 125 miles–four times longer than the tunnel connecting England and France.”

Such an engineering feat could solidify China’s already expanding economic influence in the world.
