The Facebook page “Bowe Bergdahl is NOT a Hero” is linked to a White House petition demanding Army Sgt. Bowe Bergdahl be punished for “being AWOL” and for “desertion during Operation Enduring Freedom.”
Army member Bowe Bergdahl “who did not earn the rank of Sergeant” went AWOL / Deserted the United States Army in June 2009. Punish Bowe Bergdahl for walking off base with intent to not support the War On Terror. Bowe Bergdahl broke several Articles under the Uniform Code of Military Justice and needs to be punished not rewarded.
Bowe Bergdahl…directly disobeyed…Article 86 AWOL and Article 85 Desertion, [and] both articles call for trial by court marshal. He is not a hero and is directly responsible for several military members’ death.
The petition concludes by saying Bergdahl needs to be punished so “the public” knows “the military holds all members to the same standard.”
