North Korea Test Launches New 'Cutting-Edge Ultra-Precision' Missiles

On June 27, North Korea announced it had test launched “newly developed cutting-edge ultra-precision tactical guided missiles.”

According to Xinhuanet.com, the “official KCNA news agency” reported that North Korean leader Kim Jong Un “guided the test fire at the central monitoring post.” KCNA described the launch as “another shining success.”

After the launch, Kim Jong Un said he thinks North Korea is on the road to “manufacture more ultra-precision tactical guided weapons capable of taking the decisive initiative in any operation and battle of modern warfare.”

KCNA did not report the day on which the launches took place, but media outlets in South Korea reported it on June 26.

A Joint Chiefs of Staff (JCS) official said that the range of the missiles “is some 190 km” and that JCS staff “are now looking into exactly what type of rockets” were launched.
