Further information has been established about New York City ax attacker Zale Thompson, suggesting that the man who tried to kill two police officers was a left-wing radical who hated white people, in addition to possessing well-documented Islamist sympathies and being a recent convert to the faith.
According to the hatchet man’s father, Zale Thompson specifically targeted the officers because they were white.
Thompson, 32, struck officers Kenneth Healey and Joseph Meeker, both ethnically white, in the back of the head and the arm with a hatchet.
“He wanted white people to pay for all that slavery and all that racism,” Thompson’s father told the New York Post Saturday. “I think he committed suicide — and he was taking one of y’all [white people] with him.”
The father added, “I didn’t know it would get that serious. I didn’t know he was going to carry on a mission on his own.”
In December 2013, Thompson revealed his feelings about white people. He wrote:
It’s ok for white people to draw pictures of a white Jesus, and then colonize Africa, and enslave the Negro in America, wipe out the Native American, and invade the Middle East. They call black people racist for rejecting the oppression they suffered from whites? Listen, when black people have colonized the entire continent of Europe, enslaved its people, and sold them into bondage to foreign lands, then you can call them racist.
Taking to social media to further promote his radical views about American society, prior to attacking the officers, Thompson wrote on his Facebook page, “America’s military is strong abroad, but they have never faced an internal mass revolt. They are weaker at home. We are scattered and decentralized, we can use this as an advantage.”
The New York Times reported that Thompson was sympathetic to the New Black Panther Party, a left-wing black supremacist group.
During the summer, Thompson was allegedly spending his time “Reading the Koran” and announcing to neighbors that he had “converted to Islam,” a neighbor told the Post.
