Airstrikes Against Islamic State Kill 15, Death of al-Baghdadi Not Known

AL-QAIM, Iraq, Nov. 8 (UPI) — Coalition airstrikes targeting a gathering of Islamic State leaders in Mosul, Iraq, destroyed a convoy of 10 vehicles on Friday, the U.S. confirmed Saturday.

U.S. Central Command could not confirm whether IS leader Abu Bakr al-Baghdadi was present, but Saudi television network al-Arabiya claims al-Baghdadi was “critically wounded” by the attack.

Airstrikes were Saturday at a market in Al-Qaim, close to the Syrian border and near an IS checkpoint killed 15 people and injured 31 others, a witness tells CNN. It is not known whether any IS members were killed in the strike, and it has not been confirmed whether the strike was carried out by U.S. or coalition forces.
