Poll: 1 in 4 Palestinians Support ISIS

Palestinians are most likely to support the Islamic State (ISIS/ISIL) terror group, according to a recent poll that surveyed Arab citizens of the Middle East.

The polls were conducted by the Arab Center for Research and Policy Studies, which is based in Doha, Qatar.

Of those surveyed, 85 percent of respondents rejected the Islamic State as a force for good. However, 24 percent of Palestinians had a “positive to positive to some extent” opinion of ISIS. Additionally, only 36 percent of Palestinians had a wholly negative opinion of ISIS, compared to an average of 72 percent who believed ISIS was entirely negative. Lebanon, with its Shiite and Christian populations amounting to roughly 75 percent of its population, unanimously reacted negatively towards the Islamic State.

Palestinians were also the biggest dissenting voice when it came to Arab participation in the U.S.-led efforts to take out ISIS, with 50 percent rejecting the coalition’s attempt to subdue the terror group. Lebanon again led Arab nations in support of the U.S.-led coalition, with 74 percent supporting the effort.
