Report: ISIS Seeks $1 Million Ransom For James Foley’s Body

The Islamic State terror group has put a price on the severed body of deceased American James Foley, asking for $1 million dollars in order to deliver his remains.

BuzzFeed reports that three ISIS middlemen have reached out to the news network on behalf of the jihadist entity, saying that ISIS is attempting to negotiate the sale of Foley, with an asking price of $1 million dollars.

The jihadists would reportedly deliver his body into Turkey, and would provide DNA assurance that the body is indeed Foley’s. A rebel source told Buzzfeed: “They ask for $1 million, and they will send DNA to Turkey, but they want the money first… They will not give the DNA without the money.”

Another middleman described the potential transfer, simply stating, “this is business.” A third source said this was a “humanity case,” and nothing more.

Foley is believed to be the first American hostage who was beheaded by the Islamic State. Since then, the Islamic State’s has produced additional videos showing the beheading of several more western hostages.

James Foley was an American journalist who was abducted by jihadist entities in 2012 while working as a freelance reporter during the Syrian Civil War. He was beheaded by an Islamic State fighter in August of this year.

A month before Foley’s death, President Obama authorized a mission in an attempt to rescue Foley. The mission failed when no hostages were found at the rescue site. Some blamed the mission’s failure on the President allegedly taking 30-days to make up his mind on the rescue attempt.
