The M74 motorway in Scotland suffered delays following reports of a dog “taking control of a tractor”.
It emerged that a sheepdog called Don had leaned on the controls of a tractor, sending it onto the road. Police later recovered the dog and the tractor from the central reservation.
Farmer Tom Hamilton told BBC Scotland that he checking on lambs in a field above the road with his dog, who was sitting in the passenger seat of the tractor.
When he was examining one lamb, he turned round to see the vehicle hurtling towards the motorway, crashing through a fence and settling on the central reservation.
Although the tractor’s windscreen was smashed, Don emerged unscathed from the incident.
