It’s always difficult when a whirlwind romance dissolves into broken promises and shattered dreams. It’s especially difficult when the breakup involves an ISIS militant.

Hurriyet Daily News reports that Turkish security forces, acting on intelligence from France, have detained 22-year-old Sonia Belayati after she broke up with her jihadi husband and fled the Islamic State. She was taken into custody at a bus terminal in Turkey’s Sanliurfa province.

According to the report, Belayati, a French citizen, flew into Istanbul and then crossed the Syrian border to join the Islamic State, as many foreign recruits have done. While living in ISIS-occupied Syria for three months, she married a “high-level foreign fighter.”

When the relationship soured, Belayati broke up with her terrorist hubby, and landed in an ISIS prison for a while, before making her way back to Turkey. The Turkish government is said to be working on deportation proceedings for her.
