Glenn Beck and his radio co-host Pat Gray berated Matt Drudge for sharing a blog post about their conversation with Brad Thor, which the author interpreted as a discussion of “taking out” a hypothetical President Donald Trump.
Thor likened Trump to a South American dictator, or “caudillo,” and said that once elected president, the presumptive Republican nominee would all but certainly be a tyrant. He stated that in such a case, Americans would not be able to “get Trump out of office” through “legal means.”
I’m about to suggest something very bad. It is a hypothetical I’m going to ask as a thriller writer. With the feckless, spineless Congress we have, who will stand in the way of Donald Trump overstepping his constitutional authority as President? If Congress won’t remove him from office, what patriot will step up and do that. If — if he oversteps his mandate as president — his constitutional granted authority, I should say, as president. If he oversteps that, how do we get him out of office? And I don’t think there is a legal means available. I think it will be a terrible, terrible position the American people will be in to get Trump out of office, because you won’t be able to do it through Congress.
The Drudge Report linked to a story from The American Mirror interpreting this statement as a discussion of killing Trump. Beck and Gray criticized Drudge on their Facebook pages and claimed no reasonable interpretation of Thor’s words would conclude that he was implying assassination. Drudge’s headline blared “GLENN BECK, AUTHOR TALK ‘PATRIOT’ TAKING OUT TRUMP…” in red letters.
Gray wrote:

This is the SECOND time that Drudge has trotted out and linked to patently FALSE stories about Glenn…and in this case, Brad Thor.
As you know if you were listening this morning, Brad was discussing the possibility that if Trump ever got completely out-of-control as President, there would be no way the Republican Congress would ever impeach him. So, even if it were necessary, patriots have no way to get him out of office.
Nobody…NOBODY stated or implied any harm coming to Trump, that’s not something we joke about.
Whoever this person is that wrote this piece of crap couldn’t even demonstrate in the story where this threat supposedly happened. Yet, Drudge, linked it. PATHETIC.
This has to stop. Matt Drudge is a total fraud and an embarrassment.
Beck shared Gray’s post and added:
So evil. That is NOT what he meant, nor is it what we thought. How evil do you have to be to think this?
I will have brad on tomorrow and ask him. First off do you think he would be that stupid to suggest it?
What are you crazy? Stop with the agenda.
