SANTIAGO, Chile (AP) — Local officials in Argentina say a helicopter carrying a team filming for an MTV reality show has crashed and two people are dead.
The state news agency Telam quotes the security minister for Mendoza province as saying the Bell 206 helicopter crashed Saturday morning as it flew close over the reservoir at Potrerillos de Mendoza dam in western Argentina, around 1,000 kilometers (620 miles) northwest of Buenos Aires
Security Minister Gianni Vernier tells Telam the pilot and a technician were killed. It is not yet known if anyone else was in the helicopter. Searchers are trying to reach the wreckage, which is 60 meters (nearly 200 feet) below the surface.
The cause of the accident is under investigation.
The Associated Press contacted MTV but the company had no immediate comment.
