THE GEYSERS, Calif. (AP) - A small earthquake struck Tuesday evening about 80 miles north of San Francisco. The 4.3-magnitude quake was recorded at 5:05 p.m. about 5 miles northwest of The Geysers in northern Sonoma County, according to preliminary reports from the U.S. Geological Survey.
There were no reports of injuries or damage, a sheriff's department staffer said.
The Geysers is located near a volcanic field where subterranean steam builds up and helps make the area seismically active, according to the USGS.
