NEW YORK, Nov. 16 (UPI) — New York City is bejeweled and ready for Christmas!
The Swarovski Star was lifted onto the Rockefeller Christmas Tree in the Big Apple Monday morning, in anticipation of the famous Rockefeller Center Christmas Tree lightning on Dec. 2.
The annual event was hosted by model Miranda Kerr, who has been a spokesperson for the luxury cut lead glass manufacturer since 2013. Below are some fun facts about the star.
5. The star comprises 25,000 crystals with one million facets.
4. 2015 marks the the 12th year the star will adorn the Rockefeller Center Christmas Tree.
3. The star measures 9 and 1/2 feet in diameter and 1 1/2 feet deep, and weights 550 pounds, including 300 pounds of crystal panels.
2. Gossip Girl star Blake Lively unveiled the sparkler in 2010.
1. Six outer rays and six smaller inner rays compose the star.
