June 24 (UPI) — Singer Aaron Carter was briefly hospitalized this week after he says he was body-shamed by fans about his recent weight loss.

He documented the experience in a series of tweets, many of which were met with mean-spirited messages from other Twitter users.

“This is body shaming. You guys are bullying me. I’ve already adressed my medical issues. #bodyshaming,” Carter tweeted Thursday.

“I’ve literally had the hardest week of my life, my dad past away my late sisters birthday anniversary was June 6th & people #BodyShame me,” read a subsequent post.

“I’m sorry I’m not fat enough. For my fake fans,” Carter also tweeted.

“a grown woman was gossiping bout me w I have a eating disorder telling people I need to eat 5 cheeseburgers cause I look like I’m dying,” was another tweet from the recording artist.

“Lots of shows lately, had to head up to ER just to get a little check up these shows are crazy lately gotta make sure I stay strong,” Carter wrote in still another message.

“I’ll recover,” he captioned a photo of him sitting in a wheelchair at a hospital.

Carter was back to performing Friday and shared a photo of himself on Instagram.

“Getting my life back one stage at a time. @99.5_zpl #Blessed to be back!” he captioned the image.

He also shared on Twitter a photo of himself smiling as he is eating.

“My appetite is coming back #StayingPositive,” he said.

Us Weekly said Carter recently disclosed he was diagnosed with a hiatal hernia and the medical condition makes it difficult for him to eat.

Carter and his brother Nick were also in the news last month when they announced their father had died.
