NEW YORK, Dec. 16 (UPI) — Adele’s first live performance in the United States in four years warranted record-breaking ratings for NBC Monday night.
The hourlong special, Adele Live in New York City, attracted 11.2 million total viewers and a 3.0 rating among those aged 18-49, Entertainment Weekly reports. It earned the most expansive adult demographic rating over any special broadcast performance since the networks Eagles Farewell Tour in the summer of 2005.
It was also NBC’s most-viewed special since Cher’s Farewell Tour in 2003, which attracted 16.56 million fans, Deadline adds. The network as a whole came out on top Monday night with an overall 3.1 rating.
British singer Adele announced a 56-date North American tour Monday as well, tweeting a link to her thousands of fans that morning. She will arrive in the United States on July 5 and finish her tour in Mexico City on November 15. Tickets go on sale Dec. 17.
